How do you use Covid self tests?

Administering a Covid test at home is straightforward, and each pack will come with comprehensive instructions.

• Clean and clear the surface that you plan to put the test kit on
• Wash your hands using soap and warm water for 20 seconds and dry them
• Check the test kit contents and lay them out, including taking the foil off the buffer tube
• Open the swab and insert it into the nostril around 2.5cm and gently roll it around the nostril in a circular motion five times – no force is needed
• Use the same swab and repeat the process in the second nostril
• Insert the swab into the extraction tube and rotate it for at least 30 seconds
• Squeeze the side of the tube five times whilst rotating the swab
• Pinch the extraction tube whilst removing the swab
• Close the lid of the extraction tube and mix it thoroughly
• Pour four drops in the space provided on the test cassette
• Set a timer for 15 to read the results – do not leave tour test to develop for longer than 30 minutes
